    Rent in Reykjavik´s Terms and Conditions

    Booking:

    To secure a booking we require a deposit of 20%, payable with a bank transfer, Paypal or a credit card via our secure site. The remaining balance is due 20 days prior to your arrival.  

      

    Cancellation Policy:

    We strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance to cover this event.  

    Our cancellation policy follows the industry standard and the standard set by Icelandic Travel Industry Association. Rent in Reykjavik reserves the right to always keep 20% confirmation fee to cover our costs.

    All cancellations must be made by e-mail.

    For all cancellations made with more than 40 days of notice, only 20% will be forfeited and no additional sums charged.  

    Less than 20 days but greater than 7 days - a fee of 50% of payment will be repaid.  

    Less than 7 days  but greater than 24 hours a fee of 25% of payment will be repaid.  

    Less than 24 hours -0% will be repaid and the deposit payment forfeited.  

    The reason for this policy is that holiday homes are difficult to sell at short notice and your booking has prevented us from offering the property to other people wanting to make a booking.  

    If you have small changes to your requested dates, we will try to fit them in where ever possible. 

    Days will not be refunded if you depart earlier than planned.  

    We do not refund for a change of mind on arrival.  

    Please make sure that you have considered all aspects of the property, and feel free to ask as many questions about it as you would like before making a booking.  

    If we are forced to cancel a stay due to unforeseen circumstances such as a fire, damage to the building, or sale of the property, you will be given a full refund and our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused, and we will always do our best to relocate you to a similar or better property.  

       

    The right to use this webpage, either for looking for information or for making a booking, is reserved to people over the age of 18, to individuals and representatives from companies and/or institutions. Rent in Reykjavik reserves the right to modify the web-page or parts thereof, as well as its content where deemed necessary.  

    Any breakages, damage, losses, faults or malfunctions should be reported by phone as soon as possible, please call us or the owner.. You agree to replace or reimburse Rent in Reykjavik´s homes property owner for any items which are damaged, broken or lost during your stay.  

       

    Included in the price are:

    - All taxes, towels and bed linen

    - internet usage up to a certain limit

    - cleaning before and after your stay (there is no daily cleaning)  

    - utilities (water, gas and electricity).

    - all amenities in the apartment as mentioned on our pages or in our correspondence.

       

    Checking in and out:

    As we are not a hotel, we would appreciate it if you could discuss your arrival and check-out time with us.  

    An PDF file will be sent with all the required information to access the apartment.  

    Our standard check in time is from 2:00 pm and check out time is until 11:00 am.  

    If the apartment is not occupied the night previous to your arrival, an exception to the check-in time may be made.  

    If you would like to be certain that you can check in early or check out late, booking an extra night is required.  

       

    Liability:

    In the event that  Rent in Reykjavik cannot provide you with the particular location and type of apartment that was booked, we will endeavour to let you have another property that is listed on our website.  

    In the event that  Rent in Reykjavik has to cancel a booking because of reasons beyond our control, a full refund of the money you paid will be made by us.  Rent in Reykjavik will not be liable for further claims by the client.  

    Rent in Iceland shall not be liable for any loss or damage suffered as the result of the use of this website. Rent in Reykjavik shall not be liable for any direct or indirect damages that may arise as a consequence of the use by the client of the apartment, including without limitation, damages, insurance, losses because of fires, robbery or criminal behaviour. Rent in Iceland disclaims denies responsibility for any loss, damage, accidents, sickness or changes in schedules caused by weather, strikes, force major or any other irregularity outside Reykjavik Central Apartments control.  

    It is recommended that passengers travelling to Iceland have travel insurance in their home country, since visitors come to Iceland travel and participate in activities, on their own responsibility.  

       

    Obligations and Liabilities of the Apartment Owner                 

    The apartment owner is directly responsible for the information presented on his/her Apartment information page on the website.                  

    The apartment owner is responsible for managing the Apartment in accordance with local or national laws including those regarding health and safety and insurance.                  

    The apartment owner is not responsible for any direct or indirect personal or medical costs, expenses, damages and losses suffered or incurred by you and other guests before, during or after your stay in the Apartment, except to the extent to which it is unlawful to exclude such liability.  

    The Apartment owner is responsible for the availability calendar on Reykjavik Central Apartments web page.                            

    The apartment owner cannot guarantee, or be held responsible for any failure or interruption of services to or equipment in the Apartment or disruption or noise caused as a result of repair work being carried out in another part of the property.  However, upon notification, the apartment owner will try to deal with such problems within a reasonable period of time. 

    If the problem is of that nature that it severely affects your stay in the Apartment and the apartment owner is unable to fix the problem within 24 hours you will be offered an alternative accommodation if an alternative is available. In extreme cases, where disputes between the apartment owner and the tenant cannot be resolved, Client holds the right to leave the apartment, and receive a refund for the dates that he or she did not stay in the apartment.    

       

    Rules:

    Most of our apartments are privately owned, we therefore ask all our guests to considerate all the residents in the house so that everyone can enjoy their stay. If the regulations are not met we reserve the right to expel you and your guests.

    Between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m. apartment occupiers shall not make any loud noises.  

    No parties or loud music are allowed in the apartment.

    Failure to fully disclose (or misrepresentation of) such occasions is cause for immediate cancellation of the reservation with the forfeiture of all funds and guest’s immediate eviction of the premises. Rent in Reykjavik reserves the rights to deny occupancy, evict or refuse refund at any time to anyone who appears to be damaging to the property.  

    The client will be liable for the correct and decent behaviour of all the persons accompanying him/her. Should that person, or any of the persons accompanying him/her not behave in a suitable and responsible way, Rent in Reykjavik shall be entitled to request the client and the persons accompanying him/her to leave the apartment without the right for the latter to claim any type of compensation whatsoever.  

    The tenant has no right to accommodate more persons than stated in the respective booking confirmation. Expelling this term allows Rent in Reykjavik to cancel the contract without notice and claim a reasonable addition for the over-occupancy.  

    The customer shall respect the rules of good neighbourhood, as well as keep the apartment in its original state.  

    You compensate us in the event of damage caused by you.    

    Please be aware that your stay can be terminated with no refund if the behaviour of your party falls below an acceptable standard. Rent in Reykajvik will usually require you to pay for any damages you or your party have caused. We are under no obligation to you in this event. You agree to compensate us for the full amount of any claim (including all legal costs) made against us or any third party as a result of you or your party's actions whilst using Rent in Iceland´s properties.  

       

    Extending your stay:

    After you booked your stay with us, you can simply extend your stay (depending on availability) by letting us know.  

    We will adjust the booking sum and advance payment accordingly, and you will receive a new confirmation.  

     

    Extending your stay after you checked in:

    Also after you checked in, you can extend your stay (depending on availability).  

    After check-in we can block off extra nights for you, after payment in full has been received.  

    You can pay this in cash or with your credit card (MasterCard/Visa).  

    Rent in Reykjavik reserves the right to alter/change/correct mistakes or updates prices as they appear on websites. reserves the right to always keep 20% confirmation fee to cover our costs.
